Company's history
In 2005 Serdar Sariciftci took the initiative to make the first steps in order to incorporate plastic electronic. Serdar Sariciftci was a senior research associate at the Institute for Poly-mers & Organic Solids at the University of California, Santa Barbara, closely working with Prof. Alan J. Heeger, Nobel leaurate 2000 for Chemistry, and became the founding director of the Linzer Institut für organische Solarzellen.
plastic electronic started its business as spin-off of the Johannes Kepler University of Linz/Austria in 2006.
Today, plastic electronic is exclusively in the hand of private shareholders and its business approach is strictly market oriented and concentrated and reaching early applications. The company is managed by Philipp Weissel, an experienced serial entrepreneur and Andreas Tanda, an engineer with profound industrial background in informatics and electronics.

plastic electronic is as a member of the OE-A (Organic Electronics Asscociation), a working group of the German VDMA and the Holst Centre, an Open-Innovation R&D Center, in permanent exchange with leading international industrial companies.
